Acacia Research entity Atlas Global Technologies Wi-Fi patent challenged

On February 28, 2023, Unified Patents filed an ex parte reexamination proceeding against U.S. Patent 10,153,886, owned and asserted by Atlas Global Technologies, LLC, an NPE and Acacia Research entity. The ‘886 patent is generally directed to an uplink transmission scheme for acknowledgements to reduce or eliminate redundant acknowledgements and is asserted against a Wi-Fi standard, 802.11ax. The patent has been asserted against ASUS, Arcadyan, Acer, D-Link, OnePlus, and Zyxel.

Competitive Access Systems multilink communications patent challenged

On March 1, 2023, Unified filed a petition for inter partes review (IPR) against U.S. Patent 10,868,908, owned by Competitive Access Systems, an NPE. The ’908 patent relates to multilink communications between a client and server and is currently being asserted against Oracle's Linux offering.

Velos Media video codec patent challenged

On February 28, 2023, Unified Patents filed an ex parte reexamination proceeding against U.S. Patent 9,497,469, owned and asserted by Velos Media, an NPE. The ‘469 patent relates to a device for indicating information about a leading picture for decoding images at a random access point.

$2,000 for VideoLabs data transmission patent prior art

A new PATROLL contest, with a $2,000 cash prize, was added seeking prior art on at least claim 1 of U.S. Patent 7,266,682, owned by VideoLabs, Inc. The ‘682 patent generally relates to data from a transmitter that is extended to include authentication data on the application level by an application protocol. The authentication data is used by the receiver to determine whether the transmitter is known by the receiver. If the transmitter is known by the receiver, the data is accepted. If not, the data is rejected. The ‘682 patent has been asserted against Amazon, Facebook, and Instagram.
