Magnetar Capital entity Lionra cybersecurity patent challenge instituted

On February 22, 2024, less than five weeks after Unified filed an ex parte reexamination, the Central Reexamination Unit (CRU) granted Unified’s request, finding substantial new questions of patentability on the challenged claims of U.S. Patent 9,264,441, owned by Lionra Technologies Ltd, a Magnetar Capital entity. The ‘441 patent relates to detecting vulnerability exploits of a network using a virtual machine and has been asserted against Fortinet, Palo Alto Networks, Crowdstrike, VMware, and Cisco.

$2,000 for Jeffrey M. Gross entity Webcon Vectors telecommunications patent prior art

Unified Patents added a new PATROLL contest, with a $2,000 cash prize, seeking prior art on at least claim 1 of U.S. Patent 10,681,218, owned by Webcon Vectors LLC, an NPE and entity of Jeffrey M. Gross. The ‘218 patent generally relates to vastly improved telecommunication methods for a plurality of users for one to one communication or in a conference environment where a number of users are required. The patent has been asserted against Cisco, Microsoft, Lifesize, and GoTo Technologies.

OptiMorphix network services patent challenged

On February 22, 2024, Unified Patents filed an ex parte reexamination proceeding against U.S. Patent 7,586,871, owned by OptiMorphix, Inc. The ‘871 patent relates to providing services in a data communications system. It has been asserted against Amazon, Broadcom, Cisco, F5, Google, Microsoft, Oracle, and VMware.

Anonymous Media ad measurement patent challenge instituted

On February 21, 2024, less than six weeks after Unified filed an ex parte reexamination, the Central Reexamination Unit (CRU) granted Unified’s request, finding substantial new questions of patentability on the challenged claims of U.S. Patent 8,510,768, owned by Anonymous Media Research Holdings, LLC. The ‘768 patent relates to media monitoring and measurement systems for automatic content recognition (ACR) to, for example, measure viewership on Smart TVs. The patent has been asserted against Samsung and Roku.

$2,000 awarded for Technology In Ariscale wireless patent prior art

Unified is pleased to announce PATROLL crowdsourcing contest winners, Ekta Aswal and Dinesh Swami, who split a $2,000 award for their prior art submissions on U.S. Patent 8,139,652, owned by Technology In Ariscale, LLC, an NPE. The ‘652 patent generally relates to a method of decoding wireless transmission signals involving deinterleaving and mutually combining the repeated symbols. It has been asserted against Razer Inc. and is based on compliance with IEEE 802.11ac.
