VDPP video codec patent found invalid

On April 19, 2024, the Central Reexamination Unit (CRU) entered a final rejection of the challenged claims of U.S. Patent 9,699,444, owned and asserted by VDPP LLC, an NPE. The '444 patent generally relates to processing image frames from a video stream and generating bridge frames for motion smoothing. The patent has been asserted against in over 30 cases including Microsoft, Vizio, Lenovo, Roku, Philips, Panasonic, Sharp, and others.

OptiMorphix networking patent challenge instituted

On April 29, 2024, less than seven weeks after Unified filed an ex parte reexamination, the Central Reexamination Unit (CRU) granted Unified’s request, finding substantial new questions of patentability on the challenged claims of U.S. Patent 7,099,273, owned by OptiMorphix, Inc. The ‘273 patent relates to data transmission based on round trip times. It has been asserted against multiple technologies ranging from cloud services to routers from Amazon, Cisco, F5, Google, and Oracle.
