Unified Patents added a new PATROLL contest, with a $2,000 cash prize, seeking prior art on claim 1 of U.S. Patent 9,549,285, owned by Ortiz & Associates Consulting LLC, an NPE. The ‘285 patent focuses on systems, methods, and apparatuses for brokering data between wireless devices, servers, and data rendering devices (DRDs). It is currently asserted against Vizio, Microsoft, Amazon, FedEx, ScreenBeam, and NCR Voyix.

Vivint joins Unified Patents

We are pleased to announce that Vivint, a leading smart home and security company, is now a Unified Patents member. Vivint’s products help families live intelligently in safer, smarter homes. Vivint is joining 300+ other companies committed to deterring the assertion of bad patents by non-practicing entities (NPEs). Competitive Access Systems Linux cloud patent found invalid

On October 2, 2024, the Central Reexamination Unit (CRU) entered a final rejection of all challenged claims of U.S. Patent 10,868,908, owned by Competitive Access Systems, an NPE. The ’908 patent relates to multilink communications between a client and server and was asserted against Oracle's Linux offering. Unified filed the initial reexamination proceeding on October 4, 2023, receiving the final rejection within one year after filing.
