The ‘973 patent relates to methods and systems for accurately determining the location of a caller during an emergency call. It has been asserted against Cisco, Microsoft, Stryker, Samsung, and Verizon.

Ascend Innovations entity, Byteweavr, validation patent challenged

On December 31, 2024, Unified Patents filed an ex parte reexamination proceeding against U.S. Patent 6,862,488, owned and asserted by Byteweavr, LLC, an NPE and Ascend Innovations entity. The ‘488 patent relates to automated validation and workflow management. It has been asserted against Databricks and Cloudera.

Quest entity Taasera cyber security patent found invalid

On December 23, 2024, the Central Reexamination Unit (CRU) entered a notice of intent to issue a reexamination certificate canceling all challenged claims of U.S. Patent 7,673,137, owned by Taasera Licensing LLC, an NPE and a Quest Patent Research Corporation entity.  The ‘137 patent relates to methods of computer security using program validation. The patent has been asserted against several entities including Fortinet, Trellix, Palo Alto Networks, Trend Micro, Check Point, and CrowdStrike

Another Velos Media video codec patent challenged

On December 26, 2024, Unified Patents filed an ex parte reexamination proceeding against U.S. Patent 10,257,520, owned by Velos Media, an NPE. The '520 patent is generally directed to video coding and decoding processes for employing block rotation when transform skipping is enabled. The ‘520 patent is a listed patent in Velos’ global patent assets.
