On July 17, 2015, the PTAB instituted Unified Patents' Inter-Parts Review (IPR) against Marathon ($MARA) subsidiary Vantage Point Technology, Inc. (Vantage Point's) Patent No. 6,615,233 ('233 patent) on claims 1–3, 6– 13, 15–17, 27, 31, 49, and 59.
antage Point claims its patent covers downloading to a browser a web page that was selected by the web server and automatically requesting an additional web page without user interaction. Vantage Point filed 6 cases against cloud storage companies in October, 2014. On February 13, 2015, Unified filed IPR 2015-00732 challenging claims 1-3, 6-13, 15-17, 27, 31, 41-42, 49, and 59 of the '233 patent as part of its NPE deterrent strategy in the Cloud Storage Zone.
