On October 13, 2017, Unified filed a petition for inter partes review (IPR) against U.S. Patent 9,247,226 owned and asserted by MONKEYmedia, Inc., an NPE. The '226 patent, directed to method and storage device for expanding and contracting continuous play media seamlessly, was first asserted in district court litigation on May 31, 2017 against Samsung.
