Geographic Location Innovations patent challenged as likely invalid

On September 1, 2017, Unified, represented by Erise IP, filed a petition for inter partes review (IPR) against U.S. Patent 7,917,285 owned and asserted by Geographic Location Innovations, LLC, a company owned by Leigh M. Rothschild, a well-known NPE. 

The '285 patent, directed to devices, systems, and methods for remotely entering location addresses into a user’s GPS device, has been asserted in 33 district court cases against a diverse range of operating companies such as Ford, Lyft, Safeway, and The Home Depot.
