On March 14, 2017, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) instituted an IPR petitioned by Unified on a patent owned and asserted by Digital Stream IP, LLC. The Board instituted trial on all asserted grounds against U.S. patent 6,757,913 (relating to "Wireless music and data transceiver system"). The patent had been asserted against, inter alia, automotive companies.

On January 11, 2017, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board instituted IPR2016-01404 against a patent owned and asserted by Intellectual Ventures (II) LLC. The Board instituted trial on claims 1, 2, 13, 14, 33, 34, 39, 46, and 48.

On January 3, 2016, Sentegra, LLC and Unified Patents Inc. jointly filed a request to terminate the recently instituted IPR2016-01109 pursuant to settlement.

On December 1, 2016, Unified Patents Inc. filed a second petition for inter partes review on a patent owned and asserted by Shipping & Transit, LLC, a patent formerly owned and asserted by Arrival Star. In the IPR2017-00361 petition, Unified challenged the patentability U.S. patent 6,415,207, a patent asserted more than 100 times in district court throughout the past ten years.
