On July 22, 2015 Unified Patents ("Unified") filed an Inter Parts Review (IPR) against patent owner Elia Data of Texas, LL C ("Elia Data") in order to protect Cloud Storage technologies from invalid NPE assertions. Elia Data claims its patent covers the secured transport and storage of data on a network. Elia Data has filed 4 cases against Cloud Storage companies in May 2015. Unified independently filed its IPR challenging claims 1-3 and 14-16 of U.S. Pat. No 7,113,996.
